Position

Job Title: Survey Technician
Reports to: The General Manager of Nunavik Geomatics
Location: Montréal
Status of Employment: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: According to the Nunavik Geomatics salary scale
Deadline to Apply: May 2nd 2025

Responsibilities

  • Perform surveys and operate instruments (topographic surveys, bathymetric surveys,
    3D scanning, verification of civil engineering structures, assistance to site supervisors)
  • Carry out calculations, analysis, quality control and study of measurements obtained
    during surveys
  • Prepare detailed drawings, charts and plans
  • Computer processing of surveys using various surveying and drawing software
  • Preparation of field interventions (preparation of alignments for surveying devices,
    search for geodetic connection points)
  • Participate in aerial survey using a drone and assist in all other activities of Nunavik
    Geomatics
  • Be available to travel, as requested (especially during the summer in scenarios that may
    be physically demanding);
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by
    supervisor.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma (DEC) in Surveying and/or Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum of two (2) years related practical surveying experience;
  • Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Knowledge of trigonometry, planimetry, topography, and surveying calculations;
  • Knowledge of applicable procedures, rules, regulations, standards and safe work practices with respect to performing duties;
  • ASP card and knowledge of safety and signage standards on construction sites;
  • Eligible for certification with the l’Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec;
  • Ability to use surveying instruments (Trimble and Leica robotic total stations, GPS, levels, etc.);
  • Excellent plan reading skills;
  • Have a good knowledge of Autocad;
  • Be open to new technologies and have a taste for learning;
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary team;
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills;
  • Familiarity with Inuit culture and working in northern or remote areas is an asset;
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse working environments;
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
